Project L403

Project L403, a collaboration between visual artists Victor Tan, Urich Lau, Donna Ong and Warren Benedict Khong...

About Project L403:

A collaborative project by four visual artists working at the studio space of (participating artist) Victor Tan, unit L403 at Telok Kurau Studios.

Project Description

The Space -
Visual artist Victor Tan, his studio space at Telok Kurau Studios is the subject of this collaborative project. The unit of his studio is L403, which also bear the title of the project. The studio is a work place, a storeroom, a space to temporarily and informally show artworks. It is contextual that in its raw conditions, the studio is always in a state of flux. The freedom for experimentation and terms of execution seem to hold no boundaries for the artists in the project, which paradoxically, the studio itself is limited by its own boundary as a 'square box', confined in concrete.

The Collaboration -
The four artists come together with a kindred interest in looking for another way of conceptualizing, working, and presenting their works in a specific space of bound conditions. The studio, in an administrated visual art studio housing, offers a challenge to the artists in its state of self-containment.

Artists' Works
All four artists practice their art in different media and forms, and work with different concepts and methodologies. Their works will be presented simultaneously, in process or in lapses of time in L403. For Project L403, the artists are free to use their desired media and continue from their own methods and practices and extend from their existing concepts in their work to the context of the studio.

The artists' methods and media

Victor Tan: Sculpture and Installation Art - Wire medium
Urich Lau: Light Projection and Photography - Electrical & recycled objects
Donna Ong: Sound Installation - Electrical & domestic objects
Warren Khong: Painting and Graffit - Paint medium
